The hippo pool, Okavango Delta, Botswana.

A group,  or is that a “herd”,  of hippopotamus, sighted in the Okavango Delta,  Botswana.    The image was taken from a helicopter in July,  2009,  using Canon’s, unfairly maligned, 70-300mm DO (Diffractive Optics) zoom lens.

A couple of things to remember with aerial photography,  fast shutter speed to overcome both camera movement and the movement of the aircraft itself.   Also,  keep the camera, your hands, and elbows,  from coming into contact with the body of the helicopter itself otherwise the vibration of the aircraft will be transmitted through to the camera.
