Anyone who’s followed my photography for any length of time will have detected that I am often drawn to graphic shapes and lines and perhaps fairly formal compositions. Today I go back into my archives to rediscover a series of images I captured whilst visiting the Falkland Islands a few years back. Aging paintwork, textures, a sense of neglect….
there is plenty to ponder and explore with textures, the play of light and shadow, reflections and, of course, the religious symbolism.
tree roots, stone ruins, bas-reliefs and all their shadows, lend themselves beautifully to black and white.
The content of today’s image is the result of observation, planning and a bit of good timing, not compositing or overlaying of images.
