Not that it would be obvious, but today’s images were captured in Japan during the northern winter this year (2016). With temperatures dropping well below freezing point overnight, stalactites of ice were hanging from the eaves of a roof in the early morning.
On closer viewing, the colours of the rising sun could be seen refracting through the structure of the icicles. The plain white background was courtesy of snow covering a nearby embankment. Obviously, I took many frames as the effect changed with even a slight movement in camera position, the numbers I’ve used in the titles simply allow me to find the original files in my image archives quickly and shouldn’t suggest that all 48+ images are worthwhile! ~KD
