Bangkok with a population of about 11 million is easily the largest city in Thailand. Moving so many people around requires several means of public transport, one of which is the boats that ply the Chao Phraya River flowing through the heart of the city. When recently in Bangkok, I found myself needing to take a boat ride along the river to return to my lodgings for the evening. It turned out that the boat I boarded was the last for the evening, the sun had set and the city’s lights were on.
Using slow shutter speeds
Taking the photo handheld by necessity, required a steady hand and image stabilization to keep the side of the boat and the distant buildings sharp, whilst the slow shutter speed allowed the moving water to register as a blur.
