With a history predating 700bc, the town of Fengjie (Fenji) is now submerged beneath the waters of the Yangzi River due to the Three Gorges Dam project. Here’s what the town looked like when I visited in 1999, obviously prior to the dam project being completed.
The original image was captured on colour negative film. I felt the image looked better as black and white, I’ve included the colour version simply for reference. ~KD
