From my travels through Egypt, hieroglyphics carved in stone millennia ago are still visible today, but what do they mean? As I understand it, the oblong shapes are known as cartouches and the symbols within them are references to a specific Pharaoh. These carvings are on Elephantine Island in the River Nile and I chose to go with a black and white processing utilizing Silver Efex Pro, pushing the black values and incorporating a simple black border effect.
