Seabird silhouettes, Galapagos Islands.

A cormorant perches on the end of a pier in the Galapagos Islands.   Originally captured on colour negative film and later scanned into the computer for digital processing,  I decided to go for a toned monochrome presentation.     With the scene being heavily backlit,  the image was always going to be a silhouette.   It’s often been said that for a silhouette to be effective,  the subject needs to have a clear,  distinctive shape.   In this case, the unmistakable shape of the cormorant is ideal for a silhouette image.
