Photographed in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India, the unmistakable peacock.   These birds were seen frequently throughout the park with numerous males seen proudly displaying their magnificent tail feathers.   Although these birds are generally seen on the ground,  at one point we sighted one perched high in a tree.   We stopped and waited in hope that the bird might take off from the branch and provide us with a somewhat rare flight shot.  Alas,  it was content to survey […]

Jungle Cat, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India.

Photographed in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in India,  the Jungle Cat can be difficult to see as it moves through brush.   In this instance the cat emerged momentarily into a clearing allowing for the photograph.   This is one of three sub-species of Jungle Cat and has a fairly extensive range across India and neighbouring countries.  The species is not considered to be endangered and there has been a ban on them being hunted since the late 1970s.
