Today's image was captured in Oslo's Akershus Slott castle and shows a corridor leading down into the depths of the building. The location today is open to the public and, of course, public safety being a concern, is well lit with modern lighting. If the walls could talk, surely they could tell some tales and I suspect some of those tales would be rather chilling!
To try and capture some of the cold, foreboding, feeling, I decided on a black and white treatment and took some liberties with the actual content as can be seen in the animated GIF below.
To achieve the final result shown above, there were numerous steps. Firstly to get rid of the foot light meant borrowing part of opposite wall and putting it on its own layer, flipping it and positioning it carefully over the base layer.
Next some cloning was used to eliminate the signposts in the background. The image was then converted to monochrome, a suitable toning selected and a vignette applied.
Normally when cataloguing my images in lightroom I use, what I think are, appropriate keywords. In this instance words such as mysterious and spooky came to mind! :-) KD
