Early morning, Wat Mai, Old Sukhothai in Thailand. The town/city of Sukhothai is historically significant as the capital of Thailand (then known as Siam) between 1238 and 1438. This was considered to be something of a golden age in Thai history and involved the building of many impressive wats within a walled city and also the development of the written Thai script.
With a World Heritage listing, the site is expansive and best seen by hiring a bicycle and riding around which is what I was fortunate enough to do recently (February, 2013). This is an image that I captured on my first morning, there will be more photos to come…..KD.
