Lesser striped swallow, Okavango Delta

Revisiting some of my earlier photographs given the changes to blogging platforms that are going on. Today taking a look at a photograph I took in Botswana of a Lesser Striped Swallow which I observed as it perched atop a spiny branch. I had trouble identifying this bird but, after scouring some of the bird groups on Flickr, I was able to establish it as the Lesser Striped Swallow (Cecropis abyssinica).

Pity I wasn’t a bit more organized, I could, with a guide’s assistance, have identified the species whilst I was still in the field and noted it down! Would have saved me some messing about after the fact….
