The Barber’s Shop, Haridwar.

Walking along one of the streets of Haridwar, I encountered a barber’s shop, or “beauty saloon” as it was named. Poking my head in through the doorway, I was made welcome by the staff and immediately thought that the location would be worthy of some photos. The following small photo essay is the result. I regret that I didn’t get any audio recording from the location at the time!

Looking ahead,  I’ll probably continue to periodically (maybe each Friday?) display images from my archive together with an explanatory text.   Some of the images I’ve got in mind cover a range of different locations and subjects.

Also,  whilst most of the images I present tend to be fairly realistic with a minimum of digital manipulation,  I’ve been experimenting a bit with some more radical Photoshop treatments to come up with something a bit more “out there”,  the results will probably go online next week.

Finally,  my trip to India earlier this year,  also included a visit to the lesser known Assam and Arunchal Pradesh provinces.   That visit was more wildlife and bird watching oriented,  expect to see some of that material in the weeks ahead.     I’ll include some of my impressions about travelling through/visting the region and also some thoughts regards the photographic challenges faced.
